Covering various aspects of subject leadership from current language teaching pedagogy, curriculum development and quality assurance. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.  Session 1 – Making languages engaging and challenging  Session 2 – Building progress across KS2   Session 3 – Creativity and culture

  Date: 16 September 2026 Price: Sub £45 / SLA £30 / Full £54 Keyword Search: MFL Line Manager	Secondary MFL Line Manager Webinar 26-27 This webinar will take place early in the autumn term and is aimed at SLT members with a limited background in MFL teaching who will be line managing heads of MFL during 2026-27. The main objective of this session is to ensure that line managers are aware of the key ingredients required to lead a successful languages department. This will enable them to support and challenge subject leaders in the delivery of a successful MFL curriculum in their context.
  Dates: 14 October, 9 December 2026 and 3 February 2027 Price: Sub £115 / SLA £75 / Full £138 Keyword Search: MFL Middle Leader	Secondary MFL New Middle Leader Webinar 26-27 This bespoke series of online courses led by Kerry Yates, HIAS MFL Adviser and experienced Head of Department, is aimed at language teachers who are new to the subject leader role. Over the course, there will be a focus on a range of leadership priorities specific to MFL teaching. We will cover matters such as planning the curriculum, developing resources, quality assurance and assessment and feedback. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas.
  Date: 11 November 2026 Price: Sub £145 / SLA £60 / Full £174 Keyword Search: Secondary MFL	Annual HIAS Secondary MFL Conference 2026 Build on the CPD offered through our secondary network meetings 2026-27.  Deliver training from exam boards.  Facilitate better links between HIAS and HODs to further improve attendance at future meetings.  Develop relationships in order to facilitate opportunities for subject support visits. Allow HODs time to share ideas and current practice.  Provide the opportunity to discuss and act on guidance from exam boards on the new GCSE.    Explore ways to make languages accessible to all through the curriculum and cultural context.

  Date: 3 March 2027 Price: Sub £80 / SLA £55 / Full £96 Keyword Search: Spring Secondary MFL	Spring - 26-27 Secondary MFL Network The primary aims of the subject network meetings are to:  Ensure a clear understanding of the national picture and its application in local and school contexts.  Support effective subject leadership as appropriate to each school’s individual context.  Develop skills, expertise and capacity within school subject leaders and their teams through quality strategic CPD and the sharing of good practice.  Deepen understanding of subject specific pedagogy and knowledge that underpins good progress and attainment for ALL pupils.  Facilitate school to school networking and develop strength across the system.  Common agenda items for these meetings:  Development of subject specific knowledge and an understanding of strong progression and sequencing.  Enhancing subject leadership.  Structuring Key Stage 4 to ensure pupils are well prepared for the next phase of their education.  Providing high quality Key Stage 3 provision that builds successfully on Key Stage 2.  Ensuring all pupils, including the most vulnerable (SEN and PP) are able to make excellent progress.  Sharing good practice and work.  Project work and other CPD opportunities and networks will continue and will evolve in line with need.
